BLACK, James Harrison - WWII Vet

Black, James Harrison – died at home in Cloverdale, Dec 10, 1987.  Husband of the late Lois Mae Black, father of Johanna Pourroy of Windsor and Mark H. Black, of Cloverdale.  Jim was born Oct 5, 1913 in Cloverdale to William Harrison Black, Jr. and Elnora Hulbert.  His grandfather William Harrison Black, left Ohio in in 1860 and purchased the family ranch in Cloverdale in 1864.  Before Jim and Lois moved to the ranch in 1943, he worked in many years from Nevada to San Jose.  During WWII, Jim was in the Navy, working as a Leaderman Coppersmith at Mare Island.  And Lois worked the Ranch for almost 40 years farming pears, pruces, grapes, before the selling off the producing acres.  They kept the home and a few acres were they continued to live until their deaths.  Jim was a member of the Curtis Lodgge #140 F&AM, Clover Leaf Chapter #130; Order of Eastern Star; Commandery, Knights Templar; Aahmes Temple; Sonoma County Taxpayers Association and the Geyserville Chamber of Geyserville Chamber of Commerce. Friends are invited to attend Memorial Services on Tuesday, Dec 15, 1987 at the United Church of Cloverdale at 10 a.m.  Contributions may be made to the Shriner Hospitals for Crippled Children, 1701 19th Ave, San Francisco 94122. – kbz
